Wake & Unwind Body Scrubs

Midweek Lush Bath

Hump Day vibes are in! During the middle of the week, I like a good long soak in the tub. That's when I normally catch up on my reading or listen to some fine tunes with a few candles lit. Mmm... sounds heavenly right?! Well, I've recently discovered LUSH's bath bombs and bubble bars, and they are simply divine! When I went to the store for the first time with MaQ the entire place was so aromatic, my baby boy got super excited and started sniffing the store out like he was straight up from the K-9 unit! I really love that it's a pet-friendly store, as does MaQ, since he's constantly trying to score with the ladies! ;)

I picked up two bath bombs, first the Tisty Tosty which is scented with precious rose and orris root. Did you know rose perfume is known to ease tension and give people happy, positive feelings (just like falling in love)? It’s also very beneficial for dry or rough skin. I found this bath bomb to be very soothing and my skin was so soft afterward!

I mixed in half of one bubble bar, The Comforter, which has the friendly fruity aroma of a blackcurrant candy with the Tisty Tosty. Yum! This bubbler isn't called The Comforter for no reason. It truly is the ultimate relaxer, it brought me such a sense of comfort, just like as if I was huddled in a warm cozy blanket. And the color (I'm not a fan of pink usually) was cheery yet calming.

The second bath bomb I picked up, which was my personal favorite out of all of them, was the Sex Bomb. With jasmine, clary sage and ylang ylang, these powerful aphrodisiacs are known to relax you as they warm your heart, and other body parts too. The soya milk makes the water milk and softens your entire body. It's one of LUSH's best-selling bath bombs, and I can understand why. The smell was intoxicating! It was even on Nylon's 2015 beauty hit list. You've been warned!

Lastly, the Milky Bar is a comforting milk bottle bubbler filled with moisturizing cocoa butter, skimmed milk and olive oil for supremely soft skin. And the delicate scent of orange oil is just incredible. I really did feel like I was on Cloud Nine! Just pure bliss. It reminded me of some of the milk baths I used to take with my mother's Korean bath products. Just as silky and delightful as I can remember! ♡

SAVONBOX & THE SCENT OF FIR

Hope everyone is enjoying the seasonal celebrations so far! Today's post is all about my most recent bath essentials. One of the main pluses of our apartment in the city is having an actual bathtub! I never realized how much I missed taking baths after living in our older apartment for seven years. Our older apartment's bathroom was tiny, fitting only a standup shower, a toilet and a sink. Not much space for anything else. But now, for the past couple of years, I really enjoy taking baths. It calms the body and mind, in my opinion, and who doesn't enjoy a little R & R?

As much as I love a good bubble bath, sometimes I just like to soak in the tub without the bubbles. And these luxury soaps from SAVONBOX are terrific! Fine glycerin bars for day and night, the Blue Opal and Black Raspberry Vanilla soap bars are fresh and fragrant, perfect for everyday use. My skin tends to get dry during the winter but these bad boys are hygroscopic, which means it attracts moisture, making it one of the most moisturizing varieties of soap. And my skin is so smooth!

The Blue Opal bar is a fragrance of joy, the essence of a sunny, happy morning. Fresh apple, plums and bergamot as top notes proceed into the floral heart composed of freesia, lily, rose and morning orchid with Amber. Trust me when I tell you this, it is heavenly! Such a great smell to get your day going.

The Black Raspberry Vanilla bar has a burst of black raspberry with the soothing warmth of vanilla undertones. Raspberry is a known aphrodisiac, and vanilla inspires love. <3 I use this one at night. Just the scent itself is extremely calming.

And what better scented candle for the Holiday season? The Thymes Frasier Fir Pine Needle Candle is crisp with it's just-cut forest fragrance, making it smell like there's a Christmas tree in your bathroom!  :)

I know I will definitely be getting more for the Winter time. The smell is so contagious, I want one for every room!

MaQ Bath

I don't wash MaQ often because being a German Shepherd, it's not very good for their skin and coats. During the summer, I'll always hose him down when we're out running around not only to keep him cool, but that fresh water cleans him right up after one of our workouts! But now that the season's have changed, I do tend to give him more baths inside. Given that my husband and I live in NYC, most of us aren't blessed with a backyard, where I could be giving him a wash and rinse there. So instead, MaQ has a little rub-a-dub-dub in the tub!

I swear by the dog shampoo line from Kiehl's. Call me a snob but I only dare to put the best products on my baby pooch. His skin is sensitive enough so I'm really selective in his shampoo. I love their Spray-N-Play Cleansing Spray, (kind of like dry shampoo) that I regularly use in between his monthly baths. It's got a lovely chamomile flower extract, always leaving MaQ fresh and as I always say, "smelling like sugar cookies." :) 

Their Cuddly-Coat Grooming Shampoo is top of the line. I've been using this shampoo since he outgrew his puppy soap. And his coat is nothing but shiny, silky and smooth. The 3 S's in my book for any shampoo! They also have a conditioning rinse but I have yet to try this one.

Like any experience with MaQ, I want it to be a positive one. And since he's not exactly a fan of taking baths (he loves any water that's not clean!), I reinforce with lots of treats and some of his favorite toys. He is absolutely bananas for his Chuck-It Balls. And he loves this new rubber crocodile I got him specifically for bath time. I know, I know. But look at this boy's balancing skills!

You got to admit, he is such a trooper with everything. I know so many dogs that would look absolutely miserable while getting washed but MaQ's demeanor is all about the good vibes. He enjoys nothing more than the happiness life brings to him every day.

How many of you have a dog who uses YOU as their personal towel to dry off on?! Ha ha ha! If it's raining, MaQ shamelessly dries his face in between my legs. He's been doing that since he was a puppy! And especially after a bath, it's almost like a "here, this is what you deserve after washing me with that foul crap momma!" LOL! Doesn't he look so silly with the black towel?

And there ya have it! Oh so fresh! And oh so clean! Outkast would be proud. ;)
