Chic Rainy Day Outfit

THIS POST IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY ALLISON NEW YORK, ARCADIA BAGS & LEMON JELLY BOOTS BUT ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.

I thought the expression went, “April showers bring May flowers” but the month of May has been quite wet in terms of weather. Since it’s the last May showers before summer weather arrives, I wanted to share a rainy day outfit that’s not too casual - because even on the rainiest of days we’ve got places to be and people to meet! And given it’s wedding season, I’m also sharing a two-for-one look with a lace trim dress that’s perfect to wear as a guest to a wedding and other occasions such as bridal and baby showers, this dress is also great for everyday wear. I’ve also found the most gorgeous Italian red patent crossbody bag that won’t have you breaking the bank. So continue reading to see the complete look and also where to shop these specific items, for dry and/or rainy days.

This cute, A-line dress features covered front buttons, lovely crochet lace trim, and a ruffled, flared skirt for a charming feminine look. I think one shade of blue that works well all year round is in fact, navy blue. I think it’s a modest but regal color that’s perfect to wear while attending a wedding or shower of some kind. But I love to be able to wear items on more than one occasion. Which is why this dress is great for that. I styled it for everyday wear to show you its versatility. Fits true to size, it’s the ultimate romantic dress for this season. It runs at originally $185, but I found this dress on Nordstrom marked down half its price at $90! Check out this gorgeous navy blue dress here or down below.

An on trend white sole meets a classic Chelsea boot for an innovative, fresh appearance. The majority of rain boots I see are not very chic, but I really loved these black pair of rain boots. These ankle boot are in PVC, compliant with REACH European health and environmental standards against the effects of noxious substances. With a glossy finish and lemon-scented (literally not joking - I was pleasantly surprised when I first opened the package upon receiving it) these boots do run a little small so I recommend ordering a size up. If you’re a 1/2 size of any kind, I’d choose the next size up as well. These run for $150 but they’re also on sale at Nordstrom for only $80.

Arcadia Laila belongs to the famous “patent print” collection. It’s perfect for an elegant look, but at the same time it’s also fashionable thanks to the double adjustment gold chain. It’s made with a patent print calf skin and it has a customized lock on the front and a comfortable inner zip pocket. I love the bold pop of color from this bag when it comes to this rainy day look. But I’d also style it with an all white outfit or even a black pantsuit. Red always brings life to an outfit, in my opinion. If you shop on Arcadia, use my discount code, ‘suzanne10’ to receive 10% off!

I hope you enjoyed this chic rainy day outfit! Those rain boots can especially be worn during warmer weather, as the material is not as clunky/heavy. It is quite suitable for New York weather, as it’s going to be wet up until Wednesday. One day it is 70 and sunny and the following it’s rainy and 48 - seriously can’t seem to make up its mind, Mother Nature! Thanks for stopping by. Wishing you a wonderful week and a dry Monday ;)

Best Way to Wear White to Someone Else's Wedding

WEARING: METISU WHITE FISHTAIL HEM CUTWORK LACE MAXI DRESS | PUMA SNEAKERS | MAD STYLE SLICE CROSSBODY BAG | ZALES 14K GOLD HOOP EARRINGS | AMANDA PEARL QUAD QUILL RING | LONDONTOWN NAIL POLISH IN 'GUILTY PLEASURE'

THIS POST IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY METISU, LONDONTOWN AND AMANDA PEARL

Wedding season is upon us and though it is not customary for anyone to wear white other than the bride, today I'm sharing you a few tips that could have you wearing the controversial color as a guest in the next wedding you attend! Now before you continue reading any further, know that I'm not advocating wearing a solid white of any kind, unless you're the one who's getting married, let alone stealing anyone else's thunder. But not all weddings are traditional and a lot of brides nowadays don't even wear white themselves on the big day, so don't just assume it's inappropriate. In today's post, I'll show you the best ways to wear white to someone's wedding, along with when and where this can be applied.

Wearing a white-based print dress will make you feel less nervous than wearing an all solid white one. If the bride is traditional, then perhaps going with something with more bold colors and print to not have white the base color. But this Metisu white fishtail hem cutwork lace maxi dress is just darling for a country wedding. Definitely a more casual kind of wedding, I'd totally wear this print white dress to a wedding somewhere in the Midwest! This one may not be as fitting for a more luxurious, swankier one, but this dress is also perfect on its own with no wedding invite. I'd wear this to a baby shower, a picnic, even just around the city with some sneakers like I did here in my favorite Puma's.

Another great way to work with the white is to pile on the accessories. Think of your white dress like a blank canvas and go crazy decorating it with amazing and colorful accessories. Make them the star of your outfit, not the dress. I paired this sliced fruit crossbody bag with the cherry-print to make the look more playful and summery. To keep with the cherry-red accessories, I also painted my nails in a lovely similar color by Londontown USA in 'Guilty Pleasure'. I think all of the accents of pink-reds definitely tie the outfit together. It takes a little focus off the white.

The jewelry I have on is all gold beside my wedding band and engagement ring. This amazing gold ring is by Amanda Pearl, an edgy little piece of armor for the hand - I like it in multiples. And the gold hoop earrings are 14k gold and made by Zales, which also happens to be the same brand that did our wedding bands! I always loved pairing gold accents with any shade of red, how about you? Do you think it's better to wear minimal jewelry to a wedding or big bold statement pieces? In my opinion, I think it has to do with the outfit itself. If you have a busier piece, then more minimal jewelry. If your overall look is more minimal, then I'd say statement pieces are a better way to go.

What's your take on wearing white to someone else's wedding? Would you even take the chance? How about in an ensemble like this one in today's post? Don't forget to leave your thoughts in the comment section down below. As always, you can directly shop the pieces in the beginning and end of every blog post on MaQ + Suz. Wishing you a fantastic week (and wedding season.) ;)

RHODA WONG DUSTY ROSE SLEEVELESS TRANCH | MATT BERNSON MEZZA |
VVA IVY CALF GREEN POUCH HANDBAG

THIS POST IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY SAKU NEW YORK, RHODA WONG, & MATT BERNSON.

Friday calls for a mixup on ballet-like trends and a bit more feminine chicness! Today's post features two designers from my most recent post (check it out here - major Parisian feels) who are both extremely talented in their own rights. The pleated skirt linked sweatshirt by saku New York is a great staple piece to have in your closet. The adaptability of this piece is incredible, as I can see this being worn all-year round. It's a great combo for layering or just by itself. The vest (comes separately) scalloped collar and lace work are just gorgeous! I layered it with an insanely beautiful dusty rose sleeveless trench by Rhoda Wong, with intricate pocket and collar details. What really caught my eye was what's within the pocket, a handkerchief holder! Like chivalry, it is a rarity - a dying breed if you will...

These Matt Bernson ballerina flats are my latest shoe obsession. You can wear these flats with or without the lace-up straps, whether tying them further up the legs to bring a gladiator/ballet-like feel to a look or even just around the ankles for a more definitive structured look, these versatile flats will be all the crazy this spring/summer season. And you bet I will layer these beauts with some sort of socks/tights come this fall! If you're looking to invest in a really good pair of flats, I really recommend these comfy and chic pair!

What's everyone up to this weekend? I will be working on more content for you guys - coming up on Monday will be a new cocktail recipe with one of my favorite liquors I've been drinking a lot of this year :) I can't wait to show you this spring-y, yummy and refreshing drink! Next week will also feature more sporty athleisure wear, but think more high-fashion, folks! And much more exciting projects in the works, it just keeps getting busier and busier! #forevergrateful

Off to the Races

WEARING: ECHTEGO LACE DRESS | GUESS CARRIE BLACK SATIN PUMPS |
BOOHOO MOCK CROC CLUTCH BAG

Do you guys remember the 'elevator' shoot from a few weeks ago? (Post link here.) If not, let me jog your memory. It was an editorial shoot with a navy blue dress by a great Korean designer, Sungmin Shim, for Echtego. I discovered her from a new showroom, Dreams On Air (DoA) here in New York City and was immediately attracted toward her style and collection. I love her designs so much, today's post is focusing on another beautiful piece from her 'Sentimental Vengeance' collection. And I will be telling you why I had to style this statement dress, not only because of it's aesthetic-gorgeousness.

I love when an object, whether a piece of clothing, a photograph, or a musical instrument can bubble certain memories/feelings toward the surface. It might be nostalgia or melancholy, perhaps both, with a tinge of hope, joy or fear (eek), but what I find so wonderful is its (objects) power to evoke sentiments we wouldn't have otherwise. And when I saw this black and white lace dress, it immediately drew me to my passion for Classical music. (Check out this dedicated post solely on that here!) You guys know I live for opera, but my first love when it comes to music is the Classical stuff. It's been in my life since my figure skating days, but something about the way it made me feel as I listened to it brought my attention to study it and learn from it. Nowadays, it's one of my main choices in music to listen to while writing. It keeps me centered and relaxed. Plus I just really love it. I just find it so incredible how an instrument can make you feel things you wouldn't feel from anywhere else, or with anyone else. Do I have any Classical music lovers out there?!

I used to go to the opera and the philharmonic like it was my religion, but I honestly haven't had the time to do so in a few years. Plus, I don't know many people (my age) that are as into it as I am. And that's perfectly fine, but damn I miss the hell out of it! And how lovely would this dress be for a night out for something like that? But I also think this dress also works well for the office or even attending a wedding! The tiny striped trim on the sides gives the lace dress a little bit more of a chill factor, as in easy and cool to wear. But I would really want to wear to this while doing something more on the fancier side. I feel confident and sexy in this number, so why not do something a bit more fun than just hitting the office in it? Have a great week, guys! :)
