Burgundy and Cognac Fall Outfit

Happy Friday! Who is ready for the weekend? I know I am! One of my favorite styles is casual chic, and it’s probably what you’ll see me most in but I always love to mix things up. In today’s post, I’m sharing a very fall outfit with two appropriate shades that work so well together, you’ll want an outfit just like it before the winter season rushes in. When it comes to drinks, burgundy and cognac are not going to be a good mix - but this combo will definitely score points in the fashion department! I’m wearing a wool burgundy blazer from H&M but unfortunately, it is no longer in stock. I’ve listed one that is very similar below. [link HERE] One of my favorite ways to style a blazer is with a really good pair of jeans, like these which are wide leg and very stylish together with the jacket. Since the color stands out on its own, I opted with a more subdued color for a sweater and went with a charcoal grey cashmere turtleneck sweater.

The floral printed textile bag is from HVISK, which I think makes a lovely juxtaposition with the gloves and blazer. I think the orange and black tones work well with the outfit, but the eclectic texture and style are what make the bag. The bag has one big compartment with three small inner pockets. The bag comes with a chain strap, which makes it possible to use it as a crossbody. Lastly, I wore snakeskin boots to complement the printed bag. White Denim Cycling Shorts with Snakeskin

It’s getting hot out there! One of the biggest trends to hit in fashion the past few years are biker shorts. I never really got on board with this look - that is, until this particular style evolved with different materials that are indeed a fave. I couldn’t resist a pair of denim cycling shorts. And being that I love to wear white during the summer, I really wanted to style one for you guys. But how to style it? I went with a snake print pattern and I ‘made’ the shorts myself! The link to the shorts is the only item that is not a direct one. Why? I cut these into shorts as these were originally a pair of white denim jeans. I didn’t want to style this look with a pair of white pants - I have a variety, but really felt a pair of white shorts, longer length, would bring something to the outfit. So instead of cutting them normal-length, I cut the denim biker style. I distressed the hem just a little bit to give it an unpolished, relaxed vibe with the intensity from the major snake print going on in this look.

The snake print blazer is only $15! At first I was a bit hesitant since I couldn’t touch or really see the material, but it’s thin and very moveable, even in the scorching heat! A definite piece that can be easily transitioned into fall. To keep the look edgy yet boho, I accessorized with a large straw tote and some cowrie shell earrings, both super trendy for summer. I paired the blazer with a matching snake print. These western boots fit like a glove and I could walk in them all day long. They are $60 and a really good price for a boot that can be worn well into the winter time. I always love pieces that can be styled in more than one season, how about you?

California Girl at Heart

This week on the blog I shared my five ways to style a white shirt dress (here) where many of you chimed in on the yellow blazer outfit/look #3 being your favorite. There’s a bit of an L.A. vibe to that look as the inspiration came from the Los Angeles Lakers colors: Gold and purple. When I saw this high waist cargo mini skirt, the first thing that caught my attention was definitely its color. It’s in the military green family, which is suiting in anything cargo-based, but this shade is much lighter to which the brand, Unpublished Collection, has coined the color as cactus. This style hits right at your natural waist and fits comfortably through the hips. The raw hem detailing adds an effortless, casual feel. Anything utility-wise is super trending this summer, and this denim mini skirt is my latest obsession. You can pair it with a simple white tee, a black halter top, and more but I went with a more vibrant, summer hue.

When I think of a backless top, I immediately think of warmer seasons. It’s fine to wear it during the fall and winter season too with necessary layers but I find these kind of tops best for summer. They’re breathable and sexy, showing just the right amount of skin. This yellow top with the gathered sleeves make it such a good one. Can you believe this top is only $12?! That’s right! I love to find affordable pieces that look like top quality - kind of a treasure hunt for me. Lastly, I accessorized with bold ivory statement earrings that complement with my ivory bag, and a pair of snakeskin strappy sandals. Thanks for stopping by and checking out today’s post!
