Peplum Midi Dress

THIS POST IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY WHO WHAT WEAR BUT ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.

Happy Monday! Starting the week in one of my new favorite dresses that’ll definitely be worn through the fall season! It’s everything that is trending; in terms of pattern, color and cut - it’s the dress that keeps giving. It’s the perfect attire for an evening meeting or an event where the dress code is not casual and you don’t want to show up in jeans. This dress is effortlessly chic and will bring that A-game to your next important meeting/gathering. Continue reading to see how I styled this dress and where you can get it for under $35!!

A fresh and modern look that's the personification of elegance: the peplum midi dress from Who What Wear™. Perfectly proportioned sleeves are echoed in the extra-deep ruffled peplum hemline; an eye-catching angled geometric pattern adds the must-have hue of the year. I cinched my waist with an embossed belt to give a stronger silhouette. You can wear this dress with a blazer/jacket, and even layering in in the fall with a cool cape/vest or black long-sleeved top underneath.

To give me some height, I wore my favorite pair of black mary janes. They are made in Korea by a really chic shoe brand called Lower. The top handle bag goes well with the shoes, and the belt is a deep navy blue, which brings contrast to the overall black within the accessories. Lastly, I styled this look with big statement earrings. I did not list them, they’re from H&M but cannot find them online nor could I find similar looking ones. Thanks for stopping by! Hope you enjoyed checking out this look and wishing you all a great start to your week! x

White Denim Cycling Shorts with Snakeskin

THIS POST IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY NORACORA BUT ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.

NYC fashion blogger

It’s getting hot out there! One of the biggest trends to hit in fashion the past few years are biker shorts. I never really got on board with this look - that is, until this particular style evolved with different materials that are indeed a fave. I couldn’t resist a pair of denim cycling shorts. And being that I love to wear white during the summer, I really wanted to style one for you guys. But how to style it? I went with a snake print pattern and I ‘made’ the shorts myself! Continue reading to see how I put this look together and where every piece is from with direct links.

The link to the shorts is the only item that is not a direct one. Why? I cut these into shorts as these were originally a pair of white denim jeans. I didn’t want to style this look with a pair of white pants - I have a variety, but really felt a pair of white shorts, longer length, would bring something to the outfit. So instead of cutting them normal-length, I cut the denim biker style. I distressed the hem just a little bit to give it an unpolished, relaxed vibe with the intensity from the major snake print going on in this look.

The snake print blazer is only $15! At first I was a bit hesitant since I couldn’t touch or really see the material, but it’s thin and very moveable, even in the scorching heat! A definite piece that can be easily transitioned into fall. To keep the look edgy yet boho, I accessorized with a large straw tote and some cowrie shell earrings, both super trendy for summer. I paired the blazer with a matching snake print. These western boots fit like a glove and I could walk in them all day long. They are $60 and a really good price for a boot that can be worn well into the winter time. I always love pieces that can be styled in more than one season, how about you?

Black, Pink and Lavender Outfit

THIS POST IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY HEARTLOOM AND NIA DANA BUT ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.

Happy Monday! In light of my pretty packed week, I’m keeping it short and sweet on here with little bit of contrast in today’s look. It can look great on anyone as these colors are flattering on all skin types. We’re talking pink, lavender, and black. Plus it’s an outfit that I feel good in, on top of being fashionable. And I’m sharing two brands I’ve recently discovered that I wanted to share with you in what I styled today. One is outerwear and the other is jewelry. And these staple pieces can be worn in many other different looks. So continue reading to see more details from casual, feminine yet edgy look with direct links to shop.

How beautiful is this light pink fur coat? It is rex rabbit, with a relaxed fit and hook eye closure. Fits true to size, I love that this coat can be dressed up or down. I love the slate pink color mostly, as it’s a very unique pink shade. And let me tell you how warm this baby is! I literally only had a white bodysuit underneath (with a bra) and I was snug as a bug in a rug! This coat is valued at $370 which is a bit expensive, but it’s definitely an investment piece! Luxurious I might add as well :) Check out more clothing items by Heartloom!

I love these long geometric statement earrings. Very lightweight as they are made from 0.3 mm silver sheet - I discovered this jewelry brand from Barcelona on Instagram!. Nia Dana Jewelry designs minimal chic pieces with quality metals and each piece is individually handmade. These earrings for example took about 10 days to produce, so you know the added details to everything will be perfect. In which case, they were! Check out more of her designs here www.nia-dana.com

These two-tone ankle boot beauties in lavender feature a pointed toe and stiletto heel. They’re 5” heels, so I wouldn’t recommend these if you’re not about the height. But I’m quite petite (only 5’3”) so anything that can add length especially to the bottom portion of my body is a good thing. One of the best ways to elongate your legs as a petite woman is to wear cropped pants with statement booties as such. Not only will it give you height, but the two together looks great while really showing off your new pair of shoes. And how much do you love the frayed hem on these faded black pair of denim jeans?!

Hope you enjoyed this more laidback casual look today on the blog! I think this outfit would also be perfect for Valentine’s Day, whether hanging out with the girls or with your date. A definitely day-to-night kind of look - easy peasy. What would you guys like to see more of? Styles like these or more polished up looks? I definitely have a few projects in mind when it comes to editorial work, but these will take a good second. Got an idea you’d like to see on M + S? Drop your thoughts in the comment section down below! Wishing you a great first week of February!

Le-J Jewelry

THIS POST IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY LE – J JEWELRY BUT ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.

Don’t you love it after a nice holiday break, we come back to work thinking it’s a Monday, but it’s actually a Wednesday? Makes getting through that first week a little easier. Second post on the blog kicking into the new year is all about a newly discovered jewelry brand - where I had met the founder at a press preview for a cashmere line. I love how New York always has a tendency to bring so many people together. :) Read more about this great jewelry collection (more releases coming very soon!) along with a fun earring editorial shoot by clicking the button right below!

Founded in 2017 by designer & CEO Choco XU, Le-J is a luxury accessories brand. Fusing an innovative design aesthetic with the rich heritage of Italian craftsmanship. In 2018, Choco designed to bring this brand into New York, establishing Le-J’s influence on the luxury jewelry space. Le-J collaborates with multi-generational Asian artisan families allowing a fusion of traditional processes and quality materials, with innovative design ideas defining new Modern Luxury. I was fortunate enough to cross paths with Choco at a press preview for a clothing brand, but as soon as I took a look at her jewelry designs, I was immediately drawn to the aesthetic and craftsmanship of the pieces.

I have a pair of assymetric star drop earrings that I styled last month in a velvety holiday look (link HERE) along with these amazing gold hoop earrings with pearls perched ever so delicately – a classic look. I find these earrings perfect for someone who’s style is modern minimal chic. For some reason when I looked at these earrings I instantly thought of Robin Hood, but a female version. I definitely tend to feel more inspired/creative when working with quality people and quality pieces. It’s a no-brainer. How would you style these earrings? There’s a million and one ways, which is why they’re so perfect for everyday style, day-to-night looks and more.

These Le – J earrings are only $65, but I rounded up similar pieces for everyone to pick and choose to their liking, since I know how picky I can be with my jewelry! I hope your week is going as chic as these earrings and will continue to sparkle all throughout the week and into the new year. Tomorrow I will be getting my hair done… and I’m going to go a little different! So stay tuned for a change, nothing too drastic but yeah, I think it’s great to keep evolving as a constant. Just like my work, I’m hoping to bring you fresher, bigger, better content in 2019! So here goes!!!

A Midwestern Victorian

THIS POST IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY SHEIN, DL1961 & URBAN DECAY COSMETICS

My Midwest DNA has been infected with a Victorian flair. Today's post focuses on fusing the two together and where the inspiration is behind the look. A lot of you ask me what's my take on my personal style and here's my answer: Midwestern Rock n Roll mixed with European Chic. Since my visit to London, there has definitely been more of a British style within my looks. I've also included my new favorite makeup pieces from Urban Decay Cosmetics, incorporating an overall coral tone for an updated, fresh spring look. Continue reading to learn more about the products along with where you can get this white eyelet embroidered ruffle top for only $20!

The Eyelet Embroidered Ruffle And Bell Cuff Blouse is from SHEIN and is only $20! It's the perfect addition to your spring closet. Its crisp details will turn many heads! And what makes this blouse so fantastic along with it being purely chic? Comfort level 100. It's very wearable and makes me feel uber fashionable with it on. I also tucked it inside my jeans to give the blouse a more fitted, clean look. Hurry now and shop here before it is sold out!

SHOP THE JEANS

The blouse would also go well with a maxi skirt/dress but I styled it with a pair of wide leg jeans by DL1961, a New York City-based premium denim brand specializing in high-performance, sustainably manufactured denim that always offers a perfect fit. Katharine Hepburn's brazen style is reinterpreted with these aptly named wide legs. Its ultra high rise is fitted through the waist and butt, widening onwards from the thigh. Soft yet sturdy in 100% cotton, Slate is an old-school indigo wash with a heavily ravaged hem.

Accessories included in this look are Ana Luisa earrings (limited edition only, which makes them all the more special and unique), my favorite Gucci belt, and a pair of rose gold metallic boots from Ego. I also pulled my hair back into a ponytail because of the statement top. A little styling tip from me, to keep a 'busier' piece like this blouse well-balanced and not over the top, slick the hair back to focus attention on the shirt rather than the face. Earrings can sometimes be too much, especially with the hair down in a look as such.

What do you guys think of this mixed styled look? To clarify (for some), I grew up in the Midwest, in that it's something in my blood, not just a taste in a style I tend to gravitate towards to naturally... and as to what city? Motown baby! Fun fact: The Oldies is probably one of my favorite genres of music, on top of Rock and the Blues. I've always like to hear about where others are from because you can then have a better grasp to their personal style and taste. It's in all of us, and I think it's such a wonderfully cultural thing.

As to what I did this weekend? Aside from the usual brunch and my birthday (please no, I love you all but I'm really not into mine... hence the quietness about it.) I actually did a fun video shoot with a pretty well-known K Beauty brand on Saturday and am excited to share it with you soon! Stay tuned, lots of spring content coming your way including my monthly roundup of beauty favorites and other current trends in fashion & style. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! :)
