Happy Friday, everyone! Being a fashion blogger, I am constantly on the lookout for up and coming designers, from all walks of life. One of my favorite things to do right before bed (or yes, while in bed) is to be on Instagram, scrolling through the explore feed discovering a brand I may want to potentially work with. Plus it literally feeds my hunger for creative inspiration! So when I came across a particular brand, I knew their pieces were of amazing quality… even before seeing it in person! You can imagine how thrilled I was when I learned they had recently opened a store here in New York! Designed by Asami Kusugami, Snidel is one of the fastest growing Japanese street fashion brands today. Snidel opened its first store on Cat Street in Harajuku on April 2005. It has since opened stores in Shibuya, Shinjuku, Nagoya, Yokohama, and all of the major cities across Japan. Snidel can also be found in major Japanese department stores – including Marui, Lumine, and Isetan. The brand goes by the slogan “Street Formal”-meaning designing clothes that are casual but formal at the same time. Snidel is particularly popular among university students and young Japanese women. The brand mainly focuses on clothes, but carries handbags, accessories, and shoes as well. They recently opened a store here in New York City on the Lower East Side a few months ago, and when I went to go see the pieces in person, I was immediately in love with the style and team!

The first piece that caught my eye was this perfect green long-sleeved dress. Featuring a thick fabric with a matted texture that drapes elegantly, it’s a womanly one piece dress that is perfect to wear on its own. Designed with a tucked waist line for a contoured figure and fitted with covered buttons, this piece exudes a classical look. Perfect with a pair of feminine pumps or even these black and white mules, it will also look good with a pair of low cut boots for a trendy look. I went for a more Parisian style, as Paris couture week begins very soon, and even though this is the first season where I received invitations I’m unfortunately unable to attend. But stay tuned, I may be in good ole’ Paree sooner rather than later!!

Of course, whenever you see a beret you might think of Paris. Just as much as wine, baguette bread, striped shirts and a bold red lip. So I styled the dress with accessories to fit the Parisian theme, like this black wool beret. Jewelry included in this post are a hand of Fatima necklace by Play Hard Look Dope and these pearl/gold earrings from LeJ Jewelry. (these earrings are also featured here) Lastly this chic bag crafted in Italian Embossed Croc and Pebble Grain leather can also be worn as a shoulder bag and you can double the strap for a shorter length. How to Wear a Maxi Skirt If You Are a Petite or a Short Woman

Stepping up my game in the styling department this Monday! You know, us, petite girls, need a little more recognition in the fashion world because it’s not easy styling when it comes to being short. Especially when it comes to bottoms: Pants, skirts - you name it, normally anything will need some adjustments. But what if you can’t take it in to the tailor every time? Pinching a few pennies? Why not, “Make it work” as Tim Gunn says? And if you’re a true stylist, you can adapt to anything and yes, indeed, make it work! You know I’m not much of a pink girl, but many of my readers really like it when I wear this color. So on one count, I’m challenging myself to style one skirt in two completely different ways, and two, for the love of my followers. Here you go! Continue reading to see the complete shoot!

When I thought about how to style this skirt, given the fact that the pink maxi skirt (as cute as it may be), it was far too long for me. So what’s a petite gal to do? HIDE THAT ISH. And since it’s winter, I paired it with a loosely fitted black cashmere sweater with #MOOD written on it in a plush red. To accentuate with the top, I accessorized with my new favorite bag that’s got a gorgeous oxblood color with an adjustable gold chain. You can see how I wore it both ways. Even my lipstick and nails are similar to the shades or red, but not exact. And this was intentional. I think it brings more of the pink out in terms of its statement, and it’s quite a ruffly skirt! I may not be a girly girl, but I sure do feel quite the lady when wearing it.

My new favorite black winter boots have yellow laces and a rough edgy feel to them. I’d say they’re combat boots and the platform always makes me feel like I can kick ass when wearing them. Ha ha! I’d say this look has a definite punk feminine chic vibe to it. You know me for my edginess & rebelliousness when it comes to my personal style, I really had fun putting together this first look. But wait… there’s the other look. How did I style the pink maxi skirt this time? Definitely has an overall different vibe to it as well!

WEARING: PINK MAXI SKIRT | BLACK BELT | BLACK HEELS | STAR BAG

One of my favorite ways to style a maxi skirt is to wear it as a dress! As a petite and short woman (I’m only 5’3’’) who is always looking for ways to save a few bucks, and also doesn’t always have time to wait in between alterations at the tailor’s, it never hurts to find creative ways to style yourself! And this second look is more for an evening affair. Playful, elegant and still with a little bit of edge, this pink maxi skirt, now dress, is a showstopper. I styled the piece with the darkest color known to man to give contrast to the feminine shade I don’t normally wear, if not ever. I love pink and black together!

The look was definitely inspired by Carrie Bradshaw’s Oscar de la Renta dress from the show, Sex & the City, where her Russian boyfriend gifts it to her right before whisking her away to the ballet. I wanted the same type of feeling when it came to the second look. More whimsical. A touch of elegance. And a look you’ve never seen me do. And just like Carrie, I have a thing for accessories. This unique 100% leather based ball bag with Swarovski crystal stones, silver studs, glow in the dark stars and hand painted detailing is pretty insane when it comes to its details and I thought it was quite the bag to carry with this look!

I wore black strappy heels to give more of an elongated look as well as keeping with the color scheme. And when it came to styling this pink maxi skirt into a dress, I knew I need to cinch the waist with a belt, to give some shape to the long dress. I just used black satin ribbon, the same one I wore on my wedding day, and snugly tied it in the back. A statement belt, like the one I’ve linked would be just as great, but to style this as a dress it definitely need something to hold the waist in. Cute Cerulean Print Dress

As some of you have noticed, I've been heavily into prints lately and can't seem to get enough of them! First and foremost, let's talk about how much I adore the print of this dress! It's literally perfect for the ultimate dog woman! The print includes puppies, dog collars, and even doggy faces that says 'Free Hugs'. It's fun and light-hearted which is not the norm when it comes to my style which usually always bring forth some kind of edgy fierceness to it. But fashion is also about letting loose and being a little silly from time to time. It's like how you shouldn't take yourself too seriously all the time - the same goes here! On top of the eclectic print, I am obsessed with the color. Cerulean was the Pantone color choice of 2014/15, but I think it's still in trend. And lastly what girl doesn't like ruffles? I love it around the collar and sleeves of this dress.

Along with the details of the cutout and back, I also love the tie-around waist and give the dress more shape along with the ruffles, which brings any dress some lightness and playfulness. I had scouted a field here in New York City. YES. This shoot is in Manhattan! Goes to show you don't always have to travel to get those Instagram shots - but the bites I had gotten afterward we just as real! The day we shot this it was so humid and I had anxiety about my hair not cooperating with the weather conditions (thank God for Kérastase L'Incroyable Blowdry Heat Lotion) and while holding between frames and getting the shots, I had got bitten at least five times by pesky mosquitoes. Raise your hand if the 'skeeters' love y'all as much as they love me! ;P

I find prints to be difficult to photograph, especially if they're white because it can easily interrupt with the overall white balance of the photo (meaning the whites will look too washed out and you won't be able to see any texture) so it was important for me to use a good source of light to capture the gorgeousness of this dress! And I knew the sunflowers were perfect with this kind of print. What do you guys think? The black and white polka dot dress has definitely been a repeat offender this summer and I can assure you I'll be wearing this after Labor Day! Periwinkle Floral Dress

Got a case of the Monday Blues? Fear no more! This dress will kick any start of the week's ass! It's really great for summer as the material is thin and super breathable for even those hot summer nights! As usual, I love to do mix-plays on styles, combining them together and making them work! So in today's post, I'm combining this very bohemian blue floral dress with some of my more edgier staple pieces in my accessories. Think biker chic mixed with the boho! My blogger babes will relate to this. Ever go out to shoot and you get to your location, everything is set up, you get to your first frame and suddenly the weather becomes uncooperative. Gusts of wind, God forbid downpouring rain, hail, sleet, snow, or all of the above, there's nothing more frustrating than not having any control over Mother Nature. This happened while shooting this dress, but instead of whining about the strong winds I embraced it while laughing and dancing! So when creating content, there are no excuses, and you should be able to get something out of it if you're a true creator. Obviously, you don't want to shoot a bright-colored sunny outfit in crappy rainy weather, as the aesthetics may not complement well with each other, but then again, how do you know until you try? Like Tim Gunn says, "Make it work!" and just adapt. Any blogger using an excuse of a rainy day for not being able to shoot is just lazy and not as ambitious as they 'claim'. #SorryNotSorry

Of course, I adore floral prints and the color periwinkle. It's probably one of my most favorite colors, ever! And I just love this dress from Zefinka. At only $34, the price is right with the quality of the dress. It's tailored to fit you well along with very cute black tassels at the sleeve to keep with the boho feels of the floral print. I paired the dress with my black Ego boots and black fringe bucket bag from Alles Bags. I think the dress would work well with black open toe heels for the summer or even a pair of light blue espadrilles, but I went with something a little different to show you how much you can style with just one dress! You can even tuck it into jeans or a skirt and make the dress into a floral top! I know that would look very chic as well.

It's going to be hot as hell in the city today so if you're in town, be sure to stay cool and stay hydrated! So so important, especially when the humidity is legit unbearable. Ugh.
