Union Square Farmer's Market

I think it's safe to say that spring has finally sprung here in New York City. After what seemed to be one of the longest winters to date, I enjoyed the simple things this weekend, like sitting on a park bench with my husband and eating a Mediterranean breakfast while soaking up the warmth of the sun. I also did a photo shoot where I was behind the camera for a change. I get a ton of questions as to why I don't shoot more and it's because I just don't have the time. But every once in a while, it feels good to get back at it. I am a photographer - but the word is pretty iffy in my opinion, as no one should call themselves that unless they're pursuing it full-time. Stay tuned for the photos, I'm excited to share! In the meantime, today's post is bringing a bit more feminine pieces to my closet. I feel it's good to step out of your comfort go-to style (which for me is all rock n roll with a lil' edge) plus mixing and matching later in the future is always a favorite of mine when it comes to styling different kinds of clothing. Continue reading to see why cream and blush pinks work perfectly together and how one can also add feminine pieces to their closet and still look like themselves, even if they're more of a tomboy like myself!

As many of you may know, one of my dear friends, Lissa Koo, is behind the fashion brand, SAKU New York. The motif for SAKU is both the chic New York sense and the easy, breezy West Coast atmosphere. While being a unique, never-seen-before style, SAKU offers clothes that are ready-to-wear and easily approachable for anyone. Pursuing both sportiness and femininity simultaneously, SAKU showcases silhouette apparel that greatly emphasizes woman’s beauty along with comfortable fabrics that allow easy movement. This set really hugs in all the right places while showcasing a feminine-trimmed lace and dreamy creamy palette. It's also super comfortable and perfect for the city girl always on the go. Though this wouldn't look half-bad out in the country in some Western cowboy boots, no? And what's great about this set is you can interchange between them. Wear the top alone with a sold pair of jeans or just the skirt with a different top, like a black crop-top, stripes, and/or more! The choices are endless and I love to have items like this in my wardrobe to put them in a constant rotation. Definitely not that girl that only wears the damn thing just once!

Layers of artfully-braided jute wrap around the signature platform wedge of an eye-catching ankle-strap sandal in buttery soft suede. The Marc Fisher Alida Espadrille will have you feeling like you're walking on a cloud, these are by far the most comfortable wedges I've ever owned! I also chose the blush pink color as it matched with my skin tone quite well, and in this case, can help elongate your legs (Hey, shorties!) You can wear them with anything too: Jeans, a dress, skirts and more. They are approx. $150 but the quality and comfort, on top, are worth the price. I think you'll be seeing a lot from this pair for the summer season, you can find a variety of other colors here, ranging from blues to yellows, pinks and more. Which color would you choose?

I always like to switch around my outfits' palette, just like my obsession with the curation of my Instagram grid, where I'm constantly transitioning between different tones in the color scheme. And in today's look, I went for cream with blush pink. These light, playful colors work perfectly together and definitely maintains with the feminine parts of this look. They are colors are never usually in my closet, but for some reason this year in particular, I'm more and more into colors I've never really been interested in, such as pink or white. I think it has something to do with growing up, maturing, and being more comfortable in your own skin as well. What are some colors that aren't normally hanging up in your closet? And are you willing to step outside the box a tad, like I have? Why or why not? Have a great week, and don't forget to drop your comment down below!

New York City Street Style Wearing Polka Dot Blazer

One big trend that's still sticking around this spring season is anything in polka dots. The versatile style can be in several forms. You can go for supersize statement spots in a monochrome palette, or wear your specks small in a flattering silhouette like in today's post with this super chic black polka-dot blazer. The trick is to not overdo it when it comes to styling such a busy piece! So how do you add playful polka dots to your real-life wardrobe without looking overly prim and too proper? I'll be sharing how to finish the look with some edgy accessories to toughen up the ultra-feminine print. Continue reading to see more details, like ruched sleeves and fierce black patent ankle boots, along with how to incorporate this trend into your closet.

When I first received this polka dot blazer from SHEIN I thought to style it with a pair of jeans. One, because I'm a total jean girl. I literally wear them almost every day, (which is funny because when I was a child, I would be wearing anything but, the reason being... I hated them!) and two, it was what first came to mind in terms of styling the blazer. But when we got our first really nice day here in NYC, we're talking summer-like temps, my skin was rather excited to get in a good dose of Vitamin D. So I went with a Levi's denim mini skirt and also a simple graphic 'But first, let's cuddle' tee

EGO Shoes Ruben Pull Ring Ankle Boot in Black Patent

Accessories included are a Daniel Wellington watch in silver and black, a classic I wear often, black satin ribbon as a belt, to which I'd only recommend doing this with a piece that already fits quite snug to the body, as this type of belt alone won't hold up other loosely fitted things. The Ego Ruben pull ring detail ankle boot in black patent is not just for fall and winter seasons. If you're a true New Yorker, I guarantee you still have a good pair of black boots for the spring and summer seasons as well. We do tend to wear a lot of black, and this includes footwear during the hotter months. The Mad-Style rock and roll crossbody bag also brings in the edginess to this outfit along with the boots. (Which btw, I'm in love with the heel shape and pull ring details) My earrings are also similar to the hoop shape and go well with the polka dot blazer.

What do you guys think of this look? Are you on board with the polka dot trend? I adore it, even considering a dress Pretty Woman-inspired, which is strange as I am not big on dresses. How would you have styled this polka dot blazer? Shop this blazer here or at the start/end of the post, plus it's only $37! Wishing you all a lovely week filled with no more Mercury in retrograde (TYG LOL) and lots of goodness. Okay but first, cuddle. Ha ha ha! Catch you guys back here on MaQ + Suz soon.

Happy Monday! I don't know about you fellow East Coasters, but I'm so over winter! How is it still snowing on April 2nd?! The last time I saw abnormal snowing was nearly 14 years ago when I was in Ukraine and it was snowing in the middle of April! We were baffled, but today's forecast is only leaving me exasperated. I just want warmer and sunnier weather, which won't be happening this week. But April showers bring May flowers! And before you know it, we'll be complaining about how hot it is outside. So without further ado, I'm bringing summer into spring to potentially jumpstart warmer temps! Continue reading to see the perfect dress for spring and summer. It is quite adorable for a vacation outfit as well.

How adorable is this dress?! A multicolor vacation round neck half sleeve shift dress has a backless short ruffle fringe, orange tassels and a gingham print with no stretch. I love the high waist and flounce sleeves, as it brings shape to this type of dress. It's similar to a babydoll dress. I think this would be perfect on the beach or anywhere with a lovely resort. I also believe this dress would look amazing at Coachella! The highlight of this dress? It's on SALE! 25% OFF and ONLY $16!

I kept my makeup clean and fresh with only a little added sparkle to my lipgloss. If you haven't checked out my latest beauty faves, I've featured the new lipgloss line from Urban Decay and it's so legit! The shade I'm wearing is called 'Nooner'. My go-to eyeliner as of late is the gel ones by Bobbi Brown. They don't smudge and are easy to apply. Highlighter is also Bobbi Brown, using Bronze Glow SS16. Nail polish by Essie, called, 'At the Helm', which matches perfectly with the orange tassels and wedges.

WEARING: CHICWISH ONLY FOR YOU MESH LACE TOP | DL1961 FARROW ANKLE HIGH RISE
SKINNY LARAMIE | THE LUXELLE SILVER PLATED PURSE | BCBG HEELS

THIS POST IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY CHICWISH, DL1961 & AVEDA.

Happy Monday! Yesterday I shared a favorite new spring top that's definitely a statement piece. It's crisp white details definitely catch the attention of others, and in today's outfit I'm sharing another statement top that's a bit more boho and romantic as well as my new favorite pair of skinny jeans from a great jean brand that you all need to know about! I'm also discussing a little bit more about my hair cut & color, as a lot of you having been asking me several questions regarding where and who does my hair. Continue reading to learn more and also to get the scoop on where to purchase these items from my look.

SHOP THE TOP

This mesh lace pale pink blouse has a v-neck design with semi-sheer mesh, with crochet trimmed on neckline, as well as double layered bubble sleeves with elastic cuffs. The waist is also elastic, easily shaping the top into a beautiful silhouette. You can find this top at Chicwish, where it's currently 25% off! It's fit to size and I'm wearing a size S/M. It is also 10% polyester and lined, which is a win with the temperamental weather. But my favorite part of this blouse is the romantic-feels behind it. Wouldn't it look so chic with white pants or a white flowing maxi skirt?

SHOP THE JEANS

The Farrow Ankle is DL1961's ankle length Insta-slim skinny with a high-rise, contoured waistband and a high recovery, high retention fit that instantly slims the legs, midsection and waist without ever bagging, sagging or losing its shape. Laramie is a classic mid-indigo wash with rich fading, slashed knees and ravaged hems. Sizes run big due to stretch content - if between sizes, order one size down.

My bag is from a brand in Chicago called The Luxelle, and the silver plated clutch/cross is super unique and fun for several different types of outfits. I think it contrasts well with the soft color and feel of the blouse and indigo of the jeans. My green heels are from BCBG and I've been wearing them since I was in college! Uber comfortable to walk around in. (trust me... I've had these pair for a while now... lol.)

I am an Aveda ambassador, and I've been getting my hair cut & colored at Tribeca's Fourteen Jay for the past couple of years. David Adams is my colorist and Taylor Lambert is my hair stylist. They are responsible for my hair transformation with the fringe bangs and the major change in color. But mind you, it took up to ten sessions to get to this hair color while keeping my locks healthy. I hope this helps answer a lot of questions regarding my do. If you have more, don't be shy to drop me a message or leaving a comment down below!

My Midwest DNA has been infected with a Victorian flair. Today's post focuses on fusing the two together and where the inspiration is behind the look. A lot of you ask me what's my take on my personal style and here's my answer: Midwestern Rock n Roll mixed with European Chic. Since my visit to London, there has definitely been more of a British style within my looks. I've also included my new favorite makeup pieces from Urban Decay Cosmetics, incorporating an overall coral tone for an updated, fresh spring look. The Eyelet Embroidered Ruffle And Bell Cuff Blouse is from SHEIN and is only $20! It's the perfect addition to your spring closet. Its crisp details will turn many heads! And what makes this blouse so fantastic along with it being purely chic? Comfort level 100. It's very wearable and makes me feel uber fashionable with it on. I also tucked it inside my jeans to give the blouse a more fitted, clean look. Hurry now and shop here before it is sold out!

SHOP THE JEANS

The blouse would also go well with a maxi skirt/dress but I styled it with a pair of wide leg jeans by DL1961, a New York City-based premium denim brand specializing in high-performance, sustainably manufactured denim that always offers a perfect fit. Katharine Hepburn's brazen style is reinterpreted with these aptly named wide legs. Its ultra high rise is fitted through the waist and butt, widening onwards from the thigh. Soft yet sturdy in 100% cotton, Slate is an old-school indigo wash with a heavily ravaged hem.

Accessories included in this look are Ana Luisa earrings (limited edition only, which makes them all the more special and unique), my favorite Gucci belt, and a pair of rose gold metallic boots from Ego. I also pulled my hair back into a ponytail because of the statement top. A little styling tip from me, to keep a 'busier' piece like this blouse well-balanced and not over the top, slick the hair back to focus attention on the shirt rather than the face. Earrings can sometimes be too much, especially with the hair down in a look as such.

What do you guys think of this mixed styled look? To clarify (for some), I grew up in the Midwest, in that it's something in my blood, not just a taste in a style I tend to gravitate towards to naturally... and as to what city? Motown baby! Fun fact: The Oldies is probably one of my favorite genres of music, on top of Rock and the Blues. I've always like to hear about where others are from because you can then have a better grasp to their personal style and taste. It's in all of us, and I think it's such a wonderfully cultural thing.

As to what I did this weekend? Aside from the usual brunch and my birthday (please no, I love you all but I'm really not into mine... hence the quietness about it.) I actually did a fun video shoot with a pretty well-known K Beauty brand on Saturday and am excited to share it with you soon! Stay tuned, lots of spring content coming your way including my monthly roundup of beauty favorites and other current trends in fashion & style. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! :)
